DCNS has been selected as the preferred international partner for the design of 12 future submarines for the Royal Australian Navy.
DCNS is the only company in the world to be competent in the construction of both conventional and nuclear submarines, delivering vessels of between 2,000 tonnes to 14,000 tonnes for navies all around the world. With such a diverse range of submarines, we can meet any and all market requirements.
DCNS currently designs, builds and/or maintains the Scorpene ® 2000 conventional-propulsion submarines for Brazil, Malaysia, India and Chile.
DCNS also designs and builds the Barracuda, a state of the art submarine for the French Navy dedicated to deal with an ever-growing array of challenges. The first-of-class, the SSN Suffren, is scheduled to start sea trials early 2016 and enter service in 2017. Between 2017 and 2027 six Barracudas will replace the six Rubis/Améthyste-class boats currently in service.
