Submarine Industry Roadshow Comes to Melbourne and Sydney

Defence industry leaders are being invited to attend DCNS Australia’s industry briefings in Melbourne and Sydney for the Federal Government’s Future Submarine Program.

DCNS will be in Melbourne on Thursday 2 July and Sydney on Friday 10 July. The roadshow will then move to Perth, Darwin, Brisbane and Hobart over the next few months.

DCNS intends to attract and work with Australian defence industry across the design, construction and sustainment phases of the Future Submarine Program should it win the contract to build the next generation of submarines for the Australian Government.

Sean Costello, CEO DCNS Australia, said early engagement with the local defence industry was a priority for the company.

“We want to engage with the Australian defence industry so that they learn more about DCNS and our capabilities; and explore opportunities for us to work together in the future.

“Our industry roadshows commenced in Adelaide last month and we’ve continued to meet with potential new suppliers and partners since then. DCNS has a strong record of designing and building both nuclear and conventional submarines for France, Brazil and Malaysia.

“DCNS’ involvement in the Future Submarine Program will ensure the submarine enterprise can deliver available and capable submarines to the Australian Navy.

“To achieve this we will build a world class supply chain for the design, build and sustainment of submarines right here in Australia,” said Mr Costello.

DCNS is currently taking part in the competitive evaluation process for the Australian Government’s Future Submarine Program
